Glev Here’s another good read on Tintin, a fun article by Lev Grossman that specifically talks about Tintin and travel. I wouldn’t agree with all of it, but most of it is really quite interesting and it’s fun to see how other true Tintin readers view Tintin. To read it, click below:

Perhaps the most interesting tidbit in the whole thing was this piece of trivia:

“I didn’t realize until I grew up that when the Arumbayas in The Broken Ear say, “Ewaz anaizgi. Buttiz’h felaz tukahr presh usdjuel,” you’re supposed to pronounce it phonetically: “He was a nice guy, but his fellows took our precious jewel.”

I feel like I should have known that. Good find Thierry!

But I do find offense in this passage, though:

“Not one of the characters has any romantic life to speak of, unless you count the monstrous diva Bianca Castafiore’s perverse fondness for Captain Haddock. You have to be a child not to assume they’re all gay.”

No, I’m not a child. I just know the standards of the time and setting in which this was written in, and you apparently don’t.

^ Wow! The Captain knocking Tintin and Snowy out was one of my favorite LOL moments in the movie!

  4. Trix Says:

That’s classic, when the Captain knocks Tintin out. Instead of him falling asleep in the book, they’ve made it funny!

Tintin is everywhere, even in my Gmail: https://picasaweb.google.com/114290608117197897174/December32011#5681951825272772194

Found this ad for Tintin.com looking at my emails.

How these browsers cookies can be, scary.

Yeah, Tintin is everywhere. Recently on YouTube, they were advertising him for travel (considering that he goes everywhere). I haven’t seen it lately, though.

It still didn’t work. I think that for the second page, that it was my computer.

    @ Trix,

OK this is my last try, not sure what is wrong with the rest. So I put it on my parents in law website but make sure you view it before Christmas, this site will be down soon.

I gotto say, it’s really nice to see Tintin getting some exposure outside of the movie and books.

But I do have yet another criticism over Moulinsart’s merchandising iron fist.

The movie’s action figures, I only recently found in a store, and they’re just as stupidly over priced as the original toys.

The little plastic tube with all the characters, from Tintin to Red Rackham, costs £25. Ridiculous. The box with the sea plane model and little motor bike, as well as some other action figures cost £49.99. I mean, seriously?

When will Nick Rodwell and Moulinsart realise that nobody is going to buy their products unless they make them a reasonable price? These are kid’s toys, not collector’s items!

    It worked! Thanks Thierry.
