Fascinating article on a Weta designer’s experience in Brussels.

I love this article. Excellent, excellent find, Thierry. I didn’t even know the newsletter ”friends of the Herge Museum” existed, but they have a long fun interview with lead concept designer Chris Guise (in English yet) that’s well worth a read. It will help you further appreciate the effort that went into making Tintin’s world in the film, and renew your respect for how much research Herge put into his albums. The entire article is only available for subscribers (50 euros a year…) but this excerpt is fairly good sized. I’d copy it here, but I want you to see the pictures there too. Check it out here.

The pictures that compare to Herge’s drawings…they look exactly the same. Great article!

    The article is great.

Also, in what is sure to be the first of many, many awards citations, Tintin is nominated in the “Best Adapted Screenplay” and “Best Motion Picture, Animated or Mixed Media” for the Golden Satellite Awards.

Spielberg’s other film War Horse led with 8 nominations.

Another article I found in Tintin.com from “Condé Nast Travelers”: http://www.cntraveler.com/arts/2011/12/the-world-according-to-tintin

It’s a great article, I liked this piece:

“… I didn’t realize until I grew up that when the Arumbayas in The Broken Ear say, “Ewaz anaizgi. Buttiz’h felaz tukahr presh usdjuel,” you’re supposed to pronounce it phonetically: “He was a nice guy, but his fellows took our precious jewel.”…”

Also in this article there is this slideshow:

    Enjoy the read.

That quote…I didn’t ever realise that. I guess I just never really read the foreign language, or I just skimmed through it. I did see it in my copy of The Broken Ear. Quite clever, really. I would never have guessed!

Very nice article on Tintin cars from the New York Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/27/automobiles/tintin-film-casts-cars-among-star-performers.html

The articles talk about Francois Dardel website, you can find it here: http://dardel.info/tintin/indexE.html

Very complete site on what type of cars show on Tintin’s album. I found this site few month ago and found it very interesting.

  6. Trix Says:

I’ve always loved the cars from the books. Didn’t realise how many there were!

  7. Caleb Says:

Thanks for the Dardel website Thierry, had a really good time looking at all the cars :D
