Parmount Take Down Poster
A poster appeared on the Collider web site last week claiming to be the first poster for the Tintin Movie. There was a lot of speculation regarding its authenticity because of the way it had surfaced and because it just used Herge’s artwork.
However, Paramount have asked Collider to take down the poster, strongly suggesting it was the real thing.
Obviously, the poster is copyright and it would be wrong for us to show it, thought it is freely available around the web.
Just in case Paramount have taken those two links down by the time you read this, you can assemble it yourself. Just imagine this logo:

Above an image by Herge, like this one:

And that’s about it.
Thanks Proman for spotting it originally, Britto for his observations and and Tom for noticing its disappearance.

Nothing too major but I did come across this funny story about how Cary Elwes ended up in Tintin. It’s cute:

August 18th, 2010 at 3:13 amMy take on the poster : I still think it’s a fake. Paramount also could have ask to remove it because it’s not the real deal, and could hurt the upcoming actual advertising of the movie.
Unrelated : a short but funny video with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost talking about filming Tintin : http://www.empireonline.com/news/story.asp?NID=28697 (at the Movie Con, just like the Cary Elwes video posted above by Proman.)

( the interviews)
August 19th, 2010 at 12:45 amI don’t know howtruly trustworthy (or new) this is but according to this site (http://www.sneakpeek.ca/2010/08/producerdirector-peter-jackson-has.html) the THIRD Tintin movie will be based on “Destination Moon”, incorporating the followup story “Explorers On The Moon”.
Oddly, in that article the site makes absolutely no mention of the second film. According to IMDb, Guillaume Laurant has been hired to work on the third movie.
Other than that, this pick would make a lot of sense in that point in the franchise. If Spielberg (possibly with Jackson) comes back to hellm, you could say those books are pretty much screaming to be adapted by him.
If nothing else, it’s nice to see continued confidence in the franchise.
August 25th, 2010 at 3:47 amIf this is indeed true, then could the Tintin film have the original art-style? I hope it does, otherwise my enjoyment of the film would be tainted, as there was some talk of it being ‘noir’, or something.
August 29th, 2010 at 5:28 pmWhen they referred to it being “very European, very film noir” they DIDN’T mean it would have a different art style, quite the opposite.
August 29th, 2010 at 6:34 pmBy the way, how awesome would it be to see a full length trailer for Tintin before Spielberg’s “War Horse” next year? That would be so awesome!
I’m having one of those fanboy moments
.
September 3rd, 2010 at 2:19 amI have the feeling that if we’re going to see anything at all about what the film looks like, the theatrical trailer will be our first glimpse. At least it should be. Promotional stills released prior to the trailer would be wrong for something like this. They”ve kept us in enough suspense, and I think if we’re gonna see what it looks like for the first time, what we see should move.
We’ve had discussions about the film from Speilberg, Jackson, Pegg, Frost, Elwes and some others, but surely we should have something better than that now… An interview with John Williams or Jamie Bell would be nice, for a start.
September 3rd, 2010 at 10:47 amI can assure that none image of the character will be revealed until January. You can trust!
Returning to the case of the promo poster, it was official, yes. Apparently, however, was not made to the public, but for the licensing market.
P.S.: I hope my poor English has been understandable.
September 25th, 2010 at 8:15 pmThat makes perfect sense. As painful as it is to be in suspense, it should be maintained so that the first trailers are the source of the first imagery and are thus more dramatic.
September 25th, 2010 at 9:28 pmBy the way, “when you said until January”, did you mean that nothing will be revealed at least until January(beginning of next year) or that something is planned for that particualr month?
