Spielberg on Filming Tintin

In a recent edition of Empire Magazine, Spielberg and James Cameron gave and interview about motion capture and similar techniques used in Avatar and Tintin. An interesting article but with little about Tintin except this titbit.

  3. Proman Says:

Collider has now posted an article about what it claims to be a promo poster for Tintin. Since its been sent in by the reader there is absolutely no way of knowing if it is, in fact, real. The article doesn’t comment on this at all. Here’s the article in question:

    http://www.collider.com/2010/08/11/the-adventures-of-tintin-the-secret-of-the-unicorn-movie-poster-a-monster-in-paris-movie-poster/

What do you think? Real? On one hand it’s very lowkey (and I dig it that way). On the other hand, what better to use for the early early poster than original Herge art? This could be a very smart and reassuring move on the part of promoters (as well as a huge tease).

On the other hand, it is quite low key… And that logo uses red stars instead of what appears to be red balls on the logo we’ve seen earlier. Could be fake?

Does anyone here know for sure?

  4. Chris Tregenza Says:

    @Proman – I’m not sure.

I suspect its fake because the image is lifted directly from the books. From what Spielberg & Jackson have said, the look of film will be different from the books but similar. So I would expect the poster to reflect this.

On the other hand. If they need a poster and haven’t finished the look of the artwork (we were promised a first look back in January) then using Herge’s work makes sense.

Overall, without any evidence it is real, I’m going to treat it as a fake.

    Chris

  5. Tom Says:

When the poster pops up on IMDB Movie Page it’s official. ( Because the studios upload them thereselves ) I guess …

  6. Proman Says:

Actually IMDb has been known to use unverified updates from users. In fact, they do it all the time.Nevertheless, I’m sure a confirmation or denial will come at some point.

And now for something funny, take a look at the picture in this article from Variety:

    http://www.variety.com/article/VR1118000923.html?categoryid=13&cs=1

    See anything familiar?

And now think about this: shouldn’t the teaser poster contain names of the studios making the film?

It’s a shame that so many sight are now reporting this poster as authentic without any checks whatsoever. Heck, I’m half inclined to contact Spieberg’s publicist myself!

  7. Chris Tregenza Says:

The poster is cropping up all over the net at the moment but all reference the link @Proman supplied.

I’m still minded that it is a fake just because of the way it has surfaced – sent in by a reader of web site. If it had first appeared in Variety I would give it a lot more credibility.

But you never know. It might be some form of viral advertising or it could be a genuine scoop.

    Chris

  8. Britto Says:

I also doubted it was true when I saw the first time. But I think we might be trying to compensate for the delay in the release of an official image… Whether it’s true or not, the poster has complied with the expected: Tintin is being reviewed at sites around the world!

The reader who sent the picture to the site, Max, according to Collider, he was the same that sent the image of the official logo (which has two stars, not two balls as he said Proman).

  9. Tom Says:

The poster was taken down by Paramount :o , would it really be true?
