Tintin's Stuntman
Movieline has an interview with Garrett Warren, a stunt choreographer, who worked on Tintin, Secret of the Unicorn. He has a few interesting things to say about the film.
We did a test for it two years before we shot it, and when we did the test it was fun and interesting. But oh my gosh — when we finally saw the movie, it was amazing. The stuff that Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson came up with, the performances of Daniel Craig, Jamie Bell, Simon Pegg, Andy Serkis — oh my goodness. You cannot imagine what those guys can do to words on a page. It’s one of the better movies that people are going to see…
Can you describe the look of it at all?
It looks an awful lot like the cartoon. They really wanted to bring the cartoon to life. So if you know the cartoon, or have seen the books, that’s what it looks like. It’s beautiful. You would have thought to yourself that they would have tried to go for a more realistic look, but they’re actually trying to preserve the look and essence of the original Tintin characters.
Read the full interview, with a lot about his work on Iron Man 2 in Stunt Choreographer of the Year Garrett Warren: ‘It’s About the Emotion of the Action’

That certainly sounds terrific.
B.t.w.
August 27th, 2009 at 10:34 pmShouldn’t you change the name for what the next Tintin movie is probably going to be into: Crystal Balls or Prisoners of the Sun. I think by now we can easily assume from what Peter Jackson has said that The Secret Of The Unicorn will include the Red Rackham’s Treasure hunt (and some bits of Crab with the Golden Claws) as well.
Yea, I need to go back and find the original interview where Jackson said these things.
At the time there was a lot of misreporting about the 2nd Tintin film being ‘Crystal Balls/Prisoners’ . However what Jackson appears to have been asked is what is his favourite Tintin book and he answered Crystall Balls/Prisoners. In a separate question he was asked what were his plans for the 2nd film and he answered that he did not know yet which one it was going to be.
Need to track down the original video / transcripts of the interviews to be sure though.
I’m really not sure exactly what the 1st film will cover. Spielberg said that the first will include parts of Crab with the Golden Claws and most of Secret of the Unicorn but ending a little bit before where the book does. This suggest we won’t get Prof Calculus and his shark. This would be a very strange omission.
August 28th, 2009 at 10:24 amHi,
You can read and watch it here:

It would indeed be strange to think about other titles for the next one and leave the treasure hidden… It sure would make a nice arch to start the movie off with a new friend (Haddock) and end with a new companion (Calculus) as well.
