More on Marlinspike

Thanks to Stephen who highlighted that Herge took the name Moulinsart (Marlinspike in English) from the village Sart Moulin and Sarmoulin as I suggested in Where is Marlinkspike? .

I’m still not 100% sure that Sart Moulin exists as Google puts the location in the middle of a quarry.

Stephen also An entirely different Steven sent me this great picture that morphs the original Château de Cheverny into Herge’s Marlinspike.

Well,I’ve looked into it a bit more and all I have found is 3 other websites that all say that Sart-moulin is near a town called Briane-l’Alleud in Belgium. However, checking out the hybrid on the map it says Soignies on the nearby town(by the quarry). If you zoom out on the map you will find that Briane-l’Alleud is nearby,I have found other websites out there that say the same thing about how sart-moulin is by this town, but here I’ll only put 3,2 of which are actually in Wikipedia articles, one article on Briane l’alleud and the other on Marlinspike hall. The other is another website I found on Google.

In the wikipedia articles check out the first line of the second paragraph on Marlinspike, and the third line of the first paragraph on Briane l’Alleud.
I am not sure, but is it possible sart-moulin is a small hamlet inside Soignies?

That is what I found as well.

I tried looking through Google Maps by hand to see if anywhere was labeled Sart-moulin in that area but found nothing.

    Either

    1) Sart-moulin doesn’t exist

    2) Sart-moulin is very small and Google Maps is just confused

    3) Sart-moulin is somewhere else entirely and Google Maps is very confused.

I think it needs a road trip to Belgium. There is a Tintin Festival in May and I’m wondering about making a trip over.
