Meet Tintin and Bande Dessinées

A good introduction to Tintin and French comics in general from the Louisville, Kentucky Courier Journal.

Tintin is part of the Belgo-French tradition of Bande Dessinées, or BDs, hard-bound comic books read by children and adults, featuring a vivid, fitfully funny panorama of inventors, conquerors, roving reporters, intellectual slackers, quality art and spot-on satire.

The most famous BD hero of all, Tintin is “a lovable, simple character people could project themselves onto,” said Christian Hill, an assistant professor of illustration and comic art at California State University Fullerton.
